Spend a glorious week in magnificent Venice... the inspirational and romantic city of canals, Renaissance architecture, fine art, gondolas and gourmet food.

Whether you are a seasoned artist... or you have never painted before and have always wanted to learn... join national award-winning artist and instructor Laurie Hendricks for a fabulous week of plein air painting!

​

Each day we'll feed our creative souls. There will be painting sessions in scenic locations... Laurie will provide demonstrations and offer individual personal instruction designed to improve your painting skills and expand your art experience... seasoned artists are free to be on their own to paint and enjoy.

 

Artists can choose to paint en plein air in oil or watercolor. You will take home your paintings and a journal filled with treasured memories of your Venice creative adventure.

Non-painter friends and spouses of artists are welcome to join as there are many non-painting activities.

 

Well explore the breathtaking splendor of Venice... take day trips to nearby islands and to historic Padua... enjoy delicious Italian cuisine and gelato.

​

We'll stay six nights in a choice of boutique hotels. Laurie will lead painting sessions in personally-selected beautiful locations in Venice... plus we'll take day trips to:

  • Murano - The small island just north of Venice famous for its glass making.

  • Burano - An island of Venice famous for its colored houses and lace making traditions.

  • Padua - The historic 3,000 year old university town located just one hour west of Venice... one of the oldest and most dynamic Italian cities with porticoed roads, splendid piazzas and ancient bridges... with one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

 

The trip includes many extras -- a welcome reception with Italian wines and cheeses... cocktail hour soirees with Italian wines... farewell dinner with traditional Italian cuisine and local wines.

There will be personal free time for added individual painting sessions... to see Piazza San Marco, tour Saint Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace, and visit the Peggy Guggenheim Collection museum... take a gondola ride or hop on a public ferry and see Venice as a local resident... go to a Venetian glass blowing factory.... visit Orto Botanico di Padova, the botanical garden in Padua... meander through Venice's back lanes and by the small canals discovering Venice's old world charm... go shopping for Venetan glass, lace and linens in the many boutiques... relax at outdoor cafes.

 

Optional before breakfast group pleasure walks are organized for travelers who want some morning exercise before starting their vacation day.

    • Charming Boutique Hotel: Pensione Seguso - A welcoming old-style pensione with traditional character in a 16th century building, furnished with fine antiquarian pieces. Some rooms have en suite bathrooms, some rooms have shared bathrooms.
    • Signature Boutique Hotel: Hotel La Calcina - Designated an Italian Historical Establishment, the Hotel La Calcina is a welcoming old-style pensione with traditional character in a 16th century building, furnished with fine antiquarian pieces. Rooms feature parquet floors and wooden furniture, with air conditioning and satellite TV.
    • Premiere Luxury Hotel: Hotel Nani Mocenigo Palace - Stay in a former 15th century palace was the residence of the Barbarigo Family, characterized today by a facade and frescoes from the early 1800s. Deluxe rooms furnished in an elegant Venetian style and embellished by Murano glass, decorated with antique furniture and rich wall fabrics.
  • Daily hotel buffet breakfasts.
