The 3-Countries Scandinavia Grand Tour is a special small-group journey designed to immerse you in the fascinating histories, rich traditions, and diverse cultures of three neighboring Scandinavian nations. Along the way, you’ll experience breathtaking landscapes, explore world-class heritage sites, and engage with local citizens for authentic cultural insights.

We'll begin in Copenhagen, Denmark’s elegant capital, where we’ll spend two days exploring the city’s transformation from a humble fishing village into the heart of a powerful European monarchy. Our focus will include the Viking Age, the Danish Royal Family, and the evolution of Denmark’s monarchy and politics.

We'll be based our first three nights in a stylish boutique hotel, 71 Nyhavn Hotel, with understated elegance and a superb location, that was once an old warehouse located next to Nyhavn Harbor.

Sunday evening features a warm Danish welcome dinner, a chance to meet fellow travelers and review the exciting itinerary ahead.

On Monday, we’ll enjoy a guided walking tour through Copenhagen’s city center. With our local historian, we’ll visit key sites from the city’s colorful past including the exteriors of Amalienborg Palace, Rosenborg Castle, and The Round Tower. Our route will lead us to Nyhavn, the 17th-century harbor that played a vital role in Copenhagen’s rise as a major European port. In the afternoon, we’ll embark on a scenic boat ride through Nyhavn Harbor, taking in the city’s striking architectural contrasts and viewing the beloved Little Mermaid statue from the water.

Tuesday is a day of grand architecture and dramatic history with a day trip to Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site made famous as Elsinore in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. After lunch, we’ll visit Frederiksborg Palace, known as the “Versailles of Denmark,” the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia, surrounded by meticulously designed Baroque gardens.

Evenings in Copenhagen are free for personal exploration. You might unwind at a waterside café, enjoy a Danish culinary experience, or spend time in Tivoli Gardens, the world’s second-oldest amusement park - an enchanting blend of gardens, culture, and thrill rides right in the city center.

On Wednesday morning, we’ll board a first-class train for a scenic 5½-hour journey from Copenhagen to Stockholm, traveling through northern Denmark and southern Sweden. Upon arrival, we’ll check into our hotel, the luxurious Grand Hotel Stockholm, a distinguished property and member of the Leading Hotels of the World® group, The hotel is located along the water in the center of Stockholm. We'll begin our exploration with a peaceful harbor cruise, taking in Stockholm’s stunning waterfront views from the water.

Thursday morning begins with a walking tour led by a local Swedish historian. We’ll explore the top landmarks of Sweden’s capital, including City Hall, Parliament, the Royal Opera House, and Kungliga Slottet, the Royal Palace. In Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s medieval Old Town, we’ll delve into Sweden’s monarchy, cultural identity, and socio-political evolution. Along the way, we’ll hear stories of the Bernadotte Dynasty, whose descendants still serve as the ceremonial heads of state.

We'll also visit the remarkable Vasa Museum, home to the fully restored 17th-century Vasa warship - one of the most iconic maritime artifacts in the world.

On Friday, we’ll take a ferry ride into the Stockholm Archipelago, a stunning collection of nearly 30,000 islands ranging from forested and wild to inhabited and lively. We’ll spend the day soaking in the quiet charm of rural Swedish life and admiring the natural beauty of the region.

Friday evening brings a festive farewell gala dinner featuring traditional Swedish cuisine - a perfect conclusion to our time in Sweden.

From Myrdal, we’ll transfer to the Flåm Railway, a 12-mile descent through steep mountain valleys, past waterfalls, and through lush countryside. This engineering marvel is one of the steepest standard-gauge railway lines in the world.
