Don’t wait another year… Discover Italy with WalkEurope in 2026!

Join us for WalkEurope's Italy Grand Tour -13 days / 12 nights immersed in the astonishing beauty, rich history, and timeless culture of Italy’s most iconic cities and beautiful regions: Rome, Florence, and Venice.... plus two of Italy's most breathtaking regions: The Italian Riviera seeing Cinque Terre, Santa Margherita, Portofino and the Northern Lakes Region seeing Lake Como.  This thoughtfully curated journey brings together the best of old-world charm and modern elegance as we explore Italy’s most treasured destinations.

Begin Your Adventure in Timeless Rome

Your journey begins in Rome, the Eternal City. We'll spend our first three nights here, delving deep into the ancient heart of Western civilization. Our base will be a centrally located boutique hotel, perfectly situated for exploring the city's most iconic sites. With our expert local historian guides, we'll take private tours through:

  • The Vatican Museums, where we'll marvel at the artistic splendor of the Sistine Chapel and the grandeur of St. Peter’s Basilica

  • The awe-inspiring Colosseum and Roman Forum, where history comes vividly to life

  • The majestic Pantheon, elegant Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, and the lush Borghese Gardens

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain to ensure your return to this captivating city.

In between the guided experiences, you’ll enjoy time for personal exploring, relaxing at sidewalk cafés, shopping local markets and boutiques, and savoring authentic Italian cuisine and gelato.

Onward to Florence – The Cradle of the Renaissance

Next, we’ll journey north in first-class comfort by train to Florence, the Renaissance capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site, where we’ll stay for three nights. Your boutique hotel, personally selected for charm and location, sits in the heart of the historic city centre, directly on the Arno River, just steps from Ponte Vecchio.

In Florence, we’ll:

  • Tour the Uffizi Gallery with a local art historian to see masterpieces by Botticelli, Raphael, and Titian

  • Visit the Accademia Gallery to view Michelangelo’s David statue

  • Explore the iconic Duomo - Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its magnificent dome by Brunelleschi

  • Stroll through the breathtaking Boboli Gardens, one of Europe’s grandest garden estates... plus stroll along the Arno River and over its famous bridges, including Ponte Vecchio

We’ll also host a Tuscany and Chianti wine tasting session led by a regional expert and have an hands-on Florentine cooking class where we'll learn new recipes and participate making our evening meal.

From Florence, we’ll embark on a full-day excursion to Venice, Italy’s magical floating city. We’ll travel by first-class from Florence to Venice and back to Florence by high-speed train for a day trip where we'll:

  • Take a private boat ride (weather permitting) along the iconic Grand Canal

  • Wander through Venice's peaceful back canals and absorb the serene rhythm of local Venetian life

  • Explore the world-famous Piazza San Marco, St. Mark’s Basilica, and the Rialto Bridge

  • Learn about the city’s fascinating history, architecture, and culture through an immersive guided walk with a local historian

Venice is the perfect inclusion to our Italian adventure - romantic, dreamlike, and unforgettable.

La Dolce Vita: The Italian Riviera & Lake Como.

Next we embark on a captivating journey through two of Italy’s most enchanting regions - the sun-drenched shores of the Italian Riviera and the serene elegance of Lake Como. This immersive escape invites you to experience the heart and soul of Italy, from colorful seaside villages to elegant lakeside villas, with unforgettable food, culture, and scenery along the way.

Sun-Kissed Splendor on the Italian Riviera

Our adventure continues in Santa Margherita Ligure, a glamorous yet charming resort town nestled between the sea and the hills, where palm-lined promenades meet the deep blue of the Mediterranean. For three nights, you’ll call this jewel of the Ligurian coast home - waking each morning to sea breezes, pastel-colored buildings, and the aroma of fresh-baked focaccia.

From here, we’ll explore the fabled Cinque Terre, five centuries-old fishing villages perched along the rugged cliffs of the Ligurian coast. Connected by scenic trails, terraced vineyards, and, if weather allows, a panoramic ferry ride across turquoise waters, each village offers its own character - from the lemon-scented alleys of Vernazza to the candy-colored harbor of Riomaggiore.

We'll also take a delightful day trip to the exclusive seaside town of Portofino, known for its luxe boutiques, vibrant harbor, and romantic cliffside vistas - an ideal spot for an aperitivo by the water as yachts drift by.

The Romance of Lake Como

Midweek, the landscape changes as we travel north by train to the serene and sophisticated world of Lake Como - a place beloved by poets, aristocrats, and modern travelers alike. Our destination: the storybook village of Bellagio, perched at the point where the lake’s arms meet, offering cinematic views in every direction.

Here, we’ll stay in an elegant boutique hotel with lake views, full of character and intimacy.

We’ll glide across the water on a private lake boat to visit Villa Balbianello, a romantic 18th-century estate made famous in films like Star Wars and James Bond, and take a classic ferries to Villa Carlotta, renowned for its art collections and botanical gardens in full bloom.

Savor Italy’s Culinary Heart

Indulge in Italy’s culinary treasures with a hands-on cooking class led by a celebrated Lake Como chef - knead fresh pasta, stir fragrant sauces, and sit down to a delicious meal you've prepared yourself... experience an Italian wine tasting session with a region expert.

Each day concludes with memorable Italian meals enjoyed in carefully selected restaurants - from seaside trattorias to elegant dining rooms overlooking the lake.

Morning Serenity, Optional Adventure

For those who love a peaceful start, optional early morning walks are offered - early risers who want to stretch their legs and can enjoy Rome's and Florence’s quiet beauty before the cities & villages fully awaken... and stroll along scenic waterfront paths as the sun rises over the Mediterranean or mist lifts from the lake, offering a tranquil and rejuvenating beginning to your day.
