It is traditionally built round a stone cobbled courtyard and dripping in climbing jasmine, roses and wysteria. At 1,200 feet the views stretch to the Pillars of Hercules, across the Straits of Gibraltar and deep in to Africa. The countryside is sparsely populated with mountains, valleys and distant white villages. The house is surrounded by an acre of garden, some formal with lawns and the rest olive grove and orchards of oranges, apricots, almonds and peaches. Almuña is a farm of about 500 acres, mainly oak woodland and some arable where sheep and cattle graze. The only sounds to disturb you are those of sheep bells and a serenade of nightingales in springtime. The house is situated 6km from the classic mountain village of Gaucin between the ancient city of Ronda (1 hour) and the port of Algeciras from where you can travel to Morocco for the day. The nearest airports are Gibraltar (1 hour) and Málaga (1½ hours). There are fine beaches on the Atlantic and the Mediterranean within one hour drive. Sotogrande is within 45 minutes with a number of excellent golf courses. There are good and easy shopping facilities, bars and restaurants in the local villages and large supermarkets on the coast within one hour. The house is fully furnished comprising of: Kitchen with dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven and large fridge/freezer. Dining/sitting room with TV/video and Sky with all Sky sports channels and BBC etc. Drawing room 10x5m, with large fireplace, lovely pictures and furniture plus an up-right piano. Hall, a spacious and impressive entrance hall. 7 double bedrooms (four with double beds) all with fine views and their own Bathrooms. (2 bedrooms with bath and independent showers, 4 bedrooms with bath and shower, 1 bedroom with shower only) Terrace and outside dining room. A large (20x4m) part-covered with lots of sitting area and a dining table and chairs for 14) Utility room with 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Swimming pool 5.8x 11.6m is about 15m from the side of the house. There are shaded areas and sun loungers. There is a telephone and independent fax line. Mobile phones have good coverage. Staff: Antonia has looked after the house for 14 years and will make beds and clean etc for several hours for 6 days of the week. Paco looks after the garden and swimming pool On the Almuña farm you have use of the shared hard tennis court. There is also a local riding stable where horses may be hired.
